2009 WCOOP Main Event Won By Yevgeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko
Yevgeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko has become the 2009 World Championship of Online Poker main event winner. The young phenom who was born in the Ukraine but moved to the US when he was ten years old already has an impressive list of cashes to his name including a $2.1 million payday for winning the 2009 Five-Star World Poker Classic and eight other live cashes over the 100K mark to add to his long list of online wins.
Timoshenko will collect $1,715,200 as well as a trip to the Bahamas for wining the $5,000 + $200 NLHE Main Event which began on Sunday, September 20 with 2,144 entrants which swelled the prize pool too $10,720,000. Timoshenko shared most of the final table lime light with Daniel “djk123″ Kelly who has been having a phenomenal WCOOP series with multiple big cashes and was confirmed as player of the series also winning a trip to the Bahamas to play the PCA.
The two players had been knocking out opponents at the final table seemingly at will and four handed both had more then treble the other two opponents stacks. But Kelly managed to run terribly, losing as a 3-1 favorite and two successive coin flips before running his pocket ten in to Timoshenko pockets kings in what turned out to be a decisive hand when deciding the destination of the title as this left Timoshenko with a huge chip lead three handed and he quickly despatched reddeevil in 3rd place for $933,712.00 and in a short lived heads-up match saw off Udon Wannit who will collect $1,286,400.00 for 2nd place.
