4 Reasons to play poker at Dusk Till Dawn

Dusktilldawn PokerBeing the lucky people that we are in this country, we can play poker in literally hundreds of places throughout the week.

However, by far the best place to play poker in the UK is at DTD (Dusk Till Dawn) in Nottingham and here are my reasons why:

The Venue – With about 6 million parking spaces, and its location just off the Nottingham ring-road, DTD is easy to get to by car and pull up.   If you get there early, there are plenty of restaurants close by.  If you get there late, there is a strip joint next door.  ‘Nuff said.  Not to be sexist, but if you are a lady, I’m sure the girls at the club dont mind.  The club is accessible from the midlands, from the north and from the east – and for those who moan about traveling that but extra to get there – remember, the next best place to play is about 5,000 miles away across the Atlantic ocean.

The poker room itself – is the most impressive room that I have played in outside of only a few premium Vegas card rooms (Venetian and Bellagio spring to mind in terms of decor).  As you walk in to the place, you are met with a brilliant array of poker tables that stretch far back that you can’t tell just how ugly Richard Wootton is when he is standing on the top tier.  There is always plenty of room at the tables and the chairs etc never get mentioned by poker players – this proves that by Rob Yong taking his time to make sure the detail was perfect has paid off handsomely.

Quality of play – there will always be donks in every card room in the world – even at the £3 rebuys at Stoke’s Grosvenor card room beleive it or not and DTD is no execption, other than the fact that there is probably 1 or 2 per decent game there, rather than the usual 15-20% in most games.  Play standard is that much better at DTD because of its surroundings – its a poker venue for poker players and so thats what happens generally – they go there to play poker as best they can.  This makes for enjoyable poker whether you win or lose.  Poker is no certainty of course, but at least its a more stable affair here than in any other place in the country.

Rob Yong – I have only met Rob twice, and this was 4/5 years ago, playing at a festival in Walsall, but his drive and determination to set up DTD and host the best 100% poker experience on either side of the pond is reason alone for the poker community to support it – and continue supporting it even when they are ‘running bad’ there.  I have played in Vegas, France, Sweden, Estonia, Spain, Oklahoma and most casino poker rooms in the UK.  I feel like I am qualified to say that this is the most special place among them all.  Rob doesn’t need anyone to back him up of course, his poker venue speaks for itself, but it does rankle me when people tell me that its a “bit too far” to travel when on their doorstep when they have the best poker venue in the world right here in the UK.

These are my reasons for playing at DTD and I am sure that you will have your own, but I would urge all poker players to have a think and realise just what we have here and how privilaged we should feel that DTD is in the centre of the UK and not anywhere else in the world.
