Boyle Announce Controversial IPO Structure
Boyle poker yesterday announced the structure for the 2009 Irish Poker Open and many where surprised that the starting stack has now been reduced to 8,000 chips which can be increased to 10,000 by playing at Boyle’s website in the run up to the event.
Many in the poker community see that the poker rooms stipulation that to gain the extra chips a player must earn 250 VIP points in August to get an extra 1,000 chips and 250 VIP points in September for another 1,000 as a dangerous precedent with other operators who sponsor tournaments likely to follow suite if this experiment proves to be a success.
This year tournament will take place from October 16-18th at the Regency Hotel Dublin and expects to be a sell out. The 2008 tournament was a major success and attracted 1,300 runners compete for an overall prize pool of $280,000 with this years event expected to top that.
There will also be a range of side events with reasonable buy-ins running over the course of the three day event including Hold’em, PLO and Round of each (Hold’em and PLO).

What a load of bollocks (imo)
controversial, but i dont see too much wrong with this. when i played over in dublin, this kind of thing for normal games was going on – you get there before the clock starts and you get an extra 1k chips etc. i thought it was a good idea?

I can’t download boyle to my computer… so i have to use a friends computer just to buy in… so because i have a Crap computer i should lose 2k in chips to start off?
