British Poker Master
Whilst six hundred poker players headed to the capital city to play for a bracelet this weekend, a select few instead elected to journey to Liverpool to play for another title.
Leo’s Liverpool hosted the 5th leg of the British Masters Poker Tour sponsored by Coral/Gala, 73 poker players entered the tournament and each stumped up the £500 entry to make a grand prizepool of £36,500 and a seat into an 8 handed STT for £10,000 worth of sponsorship.
The successful player that bested the other 72 was non other than Brummie Steve Holden aka Villain who is no stranger to winning Gala’s flagship tour’s main events, in 2007 he won the Nottingham leg’s main event of the then GBPT and is the first player to win multiple main events of the now renamed tour. Recently Steve Holden blogged that he was close to giving up the game, maybe this little win of £9000 and a seat in the final 8 sponsorship package STT. A deal was done 3 out where 3rd and 2nd took £8k and Steve took £9k and the seat, which was only fair as he had trounced the final table.

Someone needs to kick the organizers up the arse or just ask them to look at a poker calendar before they arrange an event as so far each leg has been poorly supported due to clashing events. The tour now heads to Bristol for its grand final starting on October 23rd.
Anyway UKPOKERINFO wishes Steve all the best, and congratulate him on his well deserved victory!
