Brits at the WSOP
Well, what a year so far!! 48 events gone and 3 in the bag. A total of 356 UK players have entered into the 47 numerous events and entry amounts, of those 356 players, the UK has cashed 113 times for the total some of $3,529,603.
The first of the 3 bracelets went to JP Kelly from Aylesbury in the $1500 PLHE along with a tidy some of $194k, then took $2,500 of his winnings to enter the PL Omaha and duly cashed in 34th place.
The second bracelet saw Roland De Wolfe hit the pretigious honour of being a triple crown winner. A World Poker Tour, a European Poker Tour and now a World Series of Poker title, when he took down the $5k PL Omaha Hi/Lo.
The trio then came when Brummie, John Kabbaj hit gold in the $10k PL Hold’em and a payday of £630,000. There was a somewhat controversial moment after Kabbaj had won his event, more of this in a future article.
Jeff Kimber, John Duthie, Ross Boatman and Dave Ulliot have all hit the crossbar in various events, and there is yet to come. As I type this, Steve Jelinek is 2nd in chips with 6 left in the $1500 PLO8.
Will there be more? Will a Brit feature in the Main Event? Here’s hoping!!!
