Finn’s Poker Twitter Twin
The majority of us have them, and the majority of us use them everyday, or maybe that is what I tell myself to justify my use of them. What am I talking about? Facebook accounts and Twitter accounts! Why should I bother talking about these on a poker site?
Personally I do not add people that I haven’t met or know on facebook, although I do admit to accepting friendship requests from people interested in poker that I have never met. Yet my twitter account is full of poker pro’s that I have added, to follow what some of the famous names in the game are doing. I understand that there are many fake accounts, and I usually investigate each account to make sure that I am following the legitimate player ( I usually do this by searching their friends first, to make sure that the people you would expect to be friends with are following each other). There is a level that I had never considered with such accounts and would not know what to do if this was happening to me!
Patrik Antonius is one of the players I follow, and apparently so do many other Twitters including other pro’s. But it has come to light that Antonius has neither a facebook account or twitter account. Antonius has put out a media alert on coinflip.com that he is being stalked. It was brought to his attention by Doyle Brunson after `the impersonator` twitted this;
i bluffed you all night doyle. how would you know what it is and i have no idea?
What is worrying Antonius is that the impersonator knows his every move, making his tweets credible e.g. the dates and times that Antonius enters and leaves Bobby’s Room, as one example.
This is freaking the Finn out (and so it probably should), and Patrik Antonius has issued a statement that he has never had a Twitter Account and has no plans to have one either.
It’s not good publicity for me if someone is pretending to be me and posts stuff that isn’t even true. The same goes for Facebook, too.
I hope the poker community gets this message. I have nothing to do with these Twitter entries and they are written without my permission.
Should he be worried that he is being impersonated or more to the point be more worried that someone is following his every move? Poker stalkers ……. suppose it was only a matter of time.
