Hartford poker league final
It’s Sunday 13th of December, it’s the day that the poker world has waited for, it’s the day that combines the magic of Christmas with the beauty of New Years Eve and the anticipation of your birthday, it’s the magnificent Hartford Poker League Grand Final today people.
After sixteen tough weeks, me and my inbred Northwich chums will be meeting at Hartford Social club to contest the latest in our long running series of poker challenges. If anyone wants to pop down for a few drinks, a good laugh and a juicy cash game then please feel free; we’ll be there from about 15.30 onwards. I must say that the Northwich poker league is one of the most important things in my life, it’s sad but it’s true. It’s only a game of poker with a few friends every week but as I’ve made clear on many occasions, it means a great deal to me for a lot of different reasons.
So anyway, I start the final this time around in seventh place. I would have been higher but for a couple of weeks I missed out on turning up, but the beauty of our league is that everyone is still in with a shout of winning it. The pot isn’t as big as it used to be, there simply aren’t as many players anymore and for some people this might be detrimental to their enjoyment of the game, not for me though. I could tell you a thousand tales from my times playing with these great people and I’ll bet you a pound to a pinch of shit that by tomorrow night I’ll have at least a thousand and one. That’s what’s important to me, memories are far more valuable then any amount of money could ever be.
Wish me luck everyone, when you’re as bad at poker as I am then you need as much as you can get!
