Lets Play Poker?
Scam or no scam?
By no means am i saying this is scam, it is not my place, but it is one of those things where you have to way up the pro’s and cons, and draw your own conclusion. There are a few things that don’t add-up and have been discussed on a number of forums. Cliff notes from forums;
1) It is £100 for the seat, speculation is that it may be a one re-buy or add-on but no mention of it (that i can see) on the site.
2) £100,000 for first prize doesn’t add up,750 runners at £100 a head, leaves a £25k shortfall, who’s paying?
3) Only 9 from 750 will receive prize money?
4) AT&T are the sponsors ………….. why?
5) Who’s paying for the dealers, and where are these licensed dealers coming from (50 of them), I usually have my ear to the ground as a dealer, and not heard a dickie bird.
6) The website is Mickey Mouse
7) According to one source, there was going to be satellites on Circus Poker, yet they don’t know anything about, and the semi’s were to be held at 235 Manchester (both unconfirmed)
Apparently they have over 1000 people interested and are nearly fully booked, yet they phone everyone who has registered an interest and keep asking them for the money up front.
9) There is already a number of established venues already holding events on this weekend, including APAT £100 World Championship of Amateur Poker at Dusk till Dawn, where are these players coming from?
10) The word guarantee is no where on that website, so personally I doubt 1st prize will be £100,000.
11) There is no suggestion of a structure and doesn’t state how many chips you start with
I re-iterate am not saying this is a scam, but it is either too good to be true or a farce, you now know what others are saying, so you can make your own mind up, just be careful.

Got something to say?

I registered for this event and they did take £200 from my card.
You had to pay £200 . your first £100 is for the buy in and the second £100 was your rebuy in if you goo all out.
However they have cancelled the evet due to lack of interest.
I did receive a call on Thursday the 23rd Jul saying I would receive a full refund on my card.
I am waiting for this refund so cant say anything yet, however after a little detective work, I have noticed they have took the website completely off line and the email address for the contact does not work.
I also contacted the offices where they are based in Manchester and the people on the same floor as them say there all not in anymore but there things are.
Hopefully this is not a scam or else there will be serious concequences to the lets-play-poker team.
Fingers crossed touch wood.
Sorry to hear this Mitch. Please keep us informed about your progress. Just tried the website myself … no joy. I will try and get the phone number from a few people I know had contacted them before, and will post here if it works.
Hi there
Just a quick update, still not received any refund, I have contacted my bank and they can not refund my funds either.
I have contacted watchdog and they are going to look into it for me, to try and stop them doing this in future.
Exploiting people that actually want to play poker as a sport not an addiction.
I feel quite unhappy about this, so hopefully someone who may have been affected by this before and reads this they are not alone.
