Markus Sippe Becomes Boylepoker.com International Poker Open 2009 Champ
German poker player Markus Sippe bested a record field of 1,440 runners to take down the 2009 Boylepoker.com International Poker Open. The massive field is the largest for a poker tournament outside the US and boasted some of pokers biggest names, Padraig Parkinson, Marty Smyth, Simon Trumper Neil Channing, Andy Black and Surinder Sunar to name just a few.
Sippe takes home $62,250 to his residence in Luxembourg for first, a massive prize pool for a $250 ($225 + $25) buy-in event. Sippe had it all to do coming into the final table of the three day event held at the Regency Airport Hotel, Dublin with the second smallest stack but a run of good cards and good fortune saw him going into the heads up match against local player Jaye Renehan with a 7.5 million to 5.5 million chip lead and in the end it only too the German 10 minutes to complete the victory.
The final table chip counts were:
Martin Dunne (Ireland) – 565,000
