Neil Channing Opts Out On a High

ncNoooooo, not poker! Neil Channing is quitting personally staking players, he is quoted as saying that he finds it a distraction to his own game, as the end result was always seen as a business. He is quite famous amongst the poker fraternity for his backing of players. This didn’t just include the backing he did for Blackbeltpoker either, as it is also a well known fact that he has had a rather large stake in James Akenheads bid for a WSOP title, a 25% stake at that. Akenhead is already guaranteed $1 million for reaching the WSOP final (The November Nine). It is unknown how much Channing has actually invested in other players, but the boy runs good IMO and most probably has seen his stakes (excluding Akenhead) make a good investment.

Channing is also reported as saying, that he felt uneasy about some of the effort players put in for his Black Belt Poker sites infamous grading system, including such players as Steve Holden who worked his arse off in the grading process for no benefit only to see Channing back a number of players in the WSOP for no return.

Steve Holden’s thoughts can be read here

On a side note Neil Channings own poker skin (Black Belt Poker) has just been launched on the ipoker network today, with the attraction of having unique Belt points, which will allow you to purchase in shop, or use towards live buy-ins etc. (didn’t Trillion do that btw?) dependent on your belt.
