Plug pulled on Nuts Poker League on line site

nutsplSome of the pubs across the country take part in the “NUTS” poker league, a friend of mine recieved this email today:-

“The Nuts Poker League Ltd received notification on Tuesday 4th August 2009 that the on-line poker site has been closed.

The online poker site was managed and operated by a company called Inside Gaming who also manage other sites.

The reason stated was that the “group” of companies who are managed by Inside Gaming have not reached the minimum revenue levels that Playtech / iPoker have agreed

To ensure your real money balance is repaid to you please email refund@insidegaming.co.uk with your current postal address, full name and username and a cheque will be posted to you. This is unrelated to The Nuts Poker League main business of poker in your local pub.”

Is this yet more evidence that the gambling bubble in the UK has bust? The Nuts Poker League has over 90,000 registered members across Britain, or is it just bad management/promotion by Insidegaming?

Has anyone else recieved this email?

Editor’s note: Just to reiterate, this will not effect the live side of Nuts Poker League pub poker at this time, the problem seems to be the numbers of live players is not proportionate with the amount of converts to online poker. In fact an interview was done with Steve Bellis this week and it looks like he is pleased with NPL’s progress Read Here. Maybe if the Dragon’s Den offer that they infamously had, hadn’t fell through, the marketing for the online side and their experience would have made it more pheasable. (or maybe not?)

I don’t think it is a question of going bust, I just think that they haven’t got the contractual number of players to continue with the deal they were offered. I am under the impression that Inside Gaming (at this moment) has no financial issues.

Got something to say?
