Play poker drunk FTW
I sit here having just watched the X Factor final, having drunk a bottle and a half of wine, a few beers and I’m pleasantly merry. I’m playing poker drunk and I love it.
I must have read about a hundred times that you shouldn’t play drunk and I think that’s a load of bollocks. Now I would add a disclaimer that you shouldn’t play any serious stakes game when pissed out of your mind but I think playing when a little tipsy is the perfect way to play.
I’m one of those people that can think themselves into a dead end. When I’m playing poker this character trait is exacerbated and I can sit there debating a pretty simple decision until that annoying time warning sounds for the twentieth time in the same night.
After a few drinks though I relax. I have that little bit of gamble and balls that all good players need, and that little added confidence that a few drinks gives me really moves me into the perfect place to play poker. Now if I have another one or two too many, then I become the poker equivalent of Stacey from X Factor trying to take part in University challenge but otherwise, I think drink is a +ve choice when I’m playing.
You may disagree with me, you may be right, but fuck it, I’m drunk and I don’t care!
