Poker Ghosts

sbrugbyFor all of those railbirds that tune in to watch the high stakes tables on Full Tilt and watch all those nosebleed pots, you may have noticed the absence of at least two regulars over the last year. One is Northampton Ben and the other more notable is the legend of Brian “Sbrugby” Townsend. Townsend had a disastrous end to 2008 and was a consistent loser over this period. The Full Tilt Pro has spent all of this year grinding his way at lower limits to build his bankroll up once again.

Well it seems that the tide may have turned on Thursday as Sbrugby once again took to his old home, and he played 200 hands with another legend and online thunderbolt “Durrrr” at the $200/$400 PLO. This time Sbrugby ended up the victor for a net profit of $200,000 although Durrrr did win the biggest pot between them at $144,000. After Durrrr left the table his seat was occupied by another high stakes regular OntheRize, Townsend played another 50 hands on the heads up table and ended up with a total profit of $286,000.

In other action on the Full Tilt High stakes tables, Phil Ivey got battered by Ziigmund on the HORSE table for a loss of over $300,000 (but if you take into account that the day before Ivey won $1.1million it wasn’t much of a loss).

There seems to be an absence of another High Stakes online legend, can anyone tell me if Eric “Rizen” Lynch has stopped playing online and is concentrating on live poker, or is he being consumed by his new sponsors Lock Poker?
