Priyan Wins GUKPT Blackpool
Priyan de Mel a thirty six year old property developer from London has become the 2009 GUKPT Blackpool champion, picking up a not too shabby £84,900 for first place as well as a seat in the 100,000 Champion of Champions tournament.
De Mel vanquished a field of 287 runners at the Blackpool G-Casino, a healthy return to pre credit crunch GUKPT fields and an indication of the strength of the Blackpool poker community. Online pro James Williams, a twenty three year old from Swindon finished 2nd when he shipped his remaining chips in to the middle and de Mel called
holding J-8 on a J-J-7-5 board, with Williams 3-6 failing to find a miracle four on the river de Mel was the GUKPT Blackpool champion.
Although this leg brings the 2009 GUKPT tour to a close there is still the small matter of the Grand Final to take place at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London from 19th-29th November. The starts with an ambitious £5,000 UK Heads Up Championship on Thursday 19th and there is the usual schedule of side events before the £3,000 main event gets underway on the 26th.

Fantastic result….Priyan played a great game all weekend, If you enjoy playing competitions with structures to die for, that are ran by organisers that have pure enthusiam for the game, get yourself qualified for next years tour..!!! you wont be dissapointed.
